The Mission & Role

Lateration's Mission
Our technologies help police and military forces make better decisions under pressure and operate moreeffectively in complex situations. Lateration develops next-generation systems that combine field sensors, secure communications, and intelligent data processing to provide reliable operational awareness in moderndefence environments.

Your Mission
We build technology to protect those who protect us. We are not just prototyping; we are actively deliveringon federal defense projects with real-world impact. Our systems have been rigorously validated in the fieldby the personnel who ultimately rely on them. To maintain this operational superiority, our technology mustintegrate flawlessly into complex external environments. You are the technical spearhead of our technologyin the field and at the customer's site. Whether we are deploying our complete localization andcommunication systems directly to operators or integrating our technology as a critical subsystem into theplatforms of Prime contractors, you make it work. You act as the technical diplomat and the ultimate problemsolver, ensuring our software applications and interfaces function seamlessly within third-party ecosystems.

What You Will Do

  • System & Software Integration: You lead the technical integration of our software and hardwaresolutions into complex customer environments, including third-party platforms, Command and Control(C2) software, and tactical networks.
  • Field Deployment & Support: You deploy our systems directly with the end-users. You are the firstline of technical authority during field exercises, trials, and operational handovers, ensuring theoperator can fully leverage our technology.
  • Technical Consulting: You act as the critical bridge between our internal engineering teams andexternal stakeholders (Prime contractors, startup partners, and government clients). You understandthe customer's architecture and advise them on the optimal integration of our APIs and data streams.
  • Troubleshooting & Analysis: When “system-of-systems” issues arise, you find the needle in thehaystack. You analyze network traffic, debug software interfaces, and resolve complex issues on-siteor remotely to prove our system's reliability.
  • The Feedback Loop: You don't just solve immediate problems; you translate operator feedback andintegration hurdles into precise, actionable requirements for our internal product and R&D teams.

Your first 5 months – What You’ll Be Proud to Have Achieved

  • Customer & Product Fluency: You understand our system architecture, APIs, and interfaces wellenough to explain and defend them to both Prime contractors and frontline operators.
  • First Successful Integration: You've led or co-led at least one integration of our software/hardwareinto a customer or partner environment, from technical scoping to on-site validation.
  • Field Deployment Experience: You've supported a field exercise or operational handover directly withend-users and can independently handle first-line technical troubleshooting on-site.
  • Established Stakeholder Network: You've built working relationships with key engineering contacts atour Prime contractor and partner organizations, and know who to call for what.
  • Feedback Loop in Motion: You've translated real operator or integration feedback into concrete, actionable requirements that have been picked up by our internal product/R&D team.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Experience: Proven background in Systems Engineering, Field Application Engineering, or Technical Customer Support—ideally dealing with complex software integrations in the defense, aerospace, or deep-tech sector.
  • The Integrator Mindset: You have a strong understanding of software architectures, IP-based communication, and API integrations. You know how to make different software systems talk to each other securely and reliably.
  • Diplomatic Authority: You are comfortable explaining a technical architecture to a Prime contractor's lead engineer and demonstrating a user interface to a frontline operator on the same day. You represent engineering excellence.
  • Hands-On Problem Solver: You can read system logs, write quick scripts (e.g., Python, Bash) for data analysis, and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty in the field to get a system online.
  • Communication: Flawless German is mandatory for interacting with federal procurement agencies and national Primes, alongside fluent English for our internal teams and international partners.
Clearance: Due to the nature of our work, you must be eligible for a German security clearance (SÜ2/Ü2). Generally, this requires German citizenship or long-term residency within EU/NATO countries

Why Join Us?

  • Real Impact: You are the direct link between our technology and the people whose lives depend onit.
  • High Autonomy: You own the customer integration space end to end and are trusted to make itwork.
  • Dynamic Environment: Work at the cutting edge where agile startup speed meets large-scaledefense programs.
  • Team: A strong, supportive team with a “no one gets left out in the rain” mindset.

About us

Lateration builds technology where failure is not an option.

We don't develop theoretical concept studies: We build field-ready systems that give armed forces an unfair tactical advantage. As a VC-backed defense tech startup headquartered in Munich, we deliver the communications and positioning backbone for critical defense programs. Our hardware and software ecosystems secure operational superiority under intense electronic warfare conditions: from GPS-denied navigation and tactical mesh networks to precise friend-or-foe identification. We are scaling our team from 40 to 70+ specialists and are looking for people who take full ownership at the system level. We don't need seat-fillers — we need builders who solve complex problems and bring uncompromising functional maturity directly to the field.
